What is annoying about New Jersey, the Turnpike included, is that the legislature has made self-service illegal. What this means is that if you do have to fill up on the Turnpike you can get stuck in long lines due to the time it takes the pump jockey to finish one car, including manually entering credit card info, before dealing with the next car. But it creates jobs that vote. Once again, a concentrated interest beats a diffuse one.
